Almost There

Well, we are now in Beijing, and I can tell you that the people here are very friendly because it seemed like the entire city population was here to greet us - man, what a zoo of people!

We left Vancouver on a flight with four other couples who are also adopting. The flight was quite pleasant, and we were then met upon arrival by a local guide who gave us our tickets for the next leg of our journey and helped us check in. Someone remarked that he looked like the Asian version of Joey Tribiani of the TV show Friends, and I have to agree. Donna correctly points out that fortunately he was not so bumbling.

Now we are waiting for the next leg of our flight - from Beijing to Chongqing. Here in the waiting area we are starting to meet up with some of the other families who either came earlier or else were on a different flight because they were coming from Nova Scotia. Including the group that went yesterday, there is a total of 64 people (in 26 families). So it is nice traveling with others with similar backgrounds (Canadian) and destination.

It is very hot here (about 30) but we are staying inside in the AC. It will be even hotter in Chongqing (up to 40?!), so we are going to count on the AC there also. Once we get to Chongqing we will check in and then try to get some sleep. Tomorrow is the big day, when we get to meet Katrina.

Hope this turns out OK - all the buttons on Blogger are in Chinese characters instead of English, so I am kind of doing this from memory. The next entry will be tomorrow after we've met Junior.
